Most of them are founded on the issue of the 2nd half acre that was at once part of our property. For those of you who do not know, the previous owners of our house split this lot in two. The neighbors behind us purchased it because "they wanted a square lot & if they bought it they would not have to worry about anyone building across from their front yard". Right, so they bought it for a bargain price of $50,000. Then they told me and all the neighbors that if they ever sold, I had first dibs on that parcel.
One thing leads to another and we find out they are not going to honor their promise, instead they are putting three houses on that half acre. There will be an additional seven houses on the rest of their land. All his wife could say to me was "That land is worth a lot of money.". Well NO DUH!! It has always been worth a lot of money and it was worth a whole lot more than $50,000 per half acre.
So now I am on a search to find the people who sold us this house so they can help us. I have no money for a lawyer, but I need one desperately.
If anyone knows where Rick and Deanna Olson are, please let me know. I have cried and cried and then I cried more. There are so few moments and things that allow me to be happy. Playing in the dirt in our backyard is one of those things. I fear it will soon be taken away by the sounds of neighbors. Ten houses, ten of them!
The acreage that is being converted to McMansion land is accessed by a long skinny driveway, which will be turned into a road. The lot back there is much like a panhandle lot. Now there are going to be TEN of them driving down the side of our property. How many cars is that every day? How much exhaust from those cars is going to be spewed into our garden? How many headlight beams flashing at God knows what hour? I really don't think I can make it through this.

Oh Tara. That is horrible. I am so sorry to hear this.
Money drives people in horrid ways. Sad they don't honor their word.
Good luck!
