Cloning and disposable income go way too far

I watched a video today about a woman who had her deceased pet pit bull. And I am thinking, wow, with all the stray and unfed pets in this county.....why would you clone one? They created FIVE baby pit bulls.

The video showed the woman talking about how she sold part of her house to fund the cloning. My first question was "Exactly how do you sell PART of your house?". Seriously....if you can sell part of a house, I want in on that. I will sell the "north wing" since we never use any of that area anyway. Good idea! And seriously...why? Why would you do this?

So then Jim asked me "Wouldn't you clone Sweet Pea?". The look he gave me was one of just total shock that I would not have already thought of that. Well, here is the thing, it would not be the same. So no, I would not clone my precious princess. I will enjoy the 10 or so year I have with her, treasuring her every day. But nature does not intend for us to photocopy ourselves.

Besides this brings us back to the age old nurture vs. nature comment. I happen to beleive in a little of both. So even if I could clone Sweet Pea, the offspring would never be the Sweet Pea I am looking at right now, she is one of a kind as is everyone and every pet and flower and so on.

Continuing with the video this pet owner talked about how she was finally able to smile again. Oh come on, we had to clone our deceased pet and create five mini Fidos to have her ever smile again? This is taking disposable income way too far.
